چکیده

In this article, [1] figure 2 was generated using the pretty output of the GCG software suite. Residues in agreement with the consensus appear as-, whilst gaps are shown as dots. Because of inaccurate settings in the software when generating the figure originally published, however, Y vs F and W vs R differences between individual sequences and the consensus were ignored, and therefore appeared as-. of the alignment, and are corrected here. These mistakes only concerned this figure, and had no influence on the trees shown on Fig. 3 or on any of the other results and conclusions of this paper. article: verbatim copying and redistribution of this article are permitted in all media for any purpose, provided this notice is preserved along with the article's original URL.

A novel instance of class I modification (cim) affecting two of three rat class I RT1-A molecules within one MHC haplotype.

MHC class I expression by rats of the RT1(o), RT1(d), and RT1(m) MHC haplotypes was investigated. Identical, functional cDNAs were obtained from RT1(o) and BDIX (RT1(dv1)) rats for three MHC class I molecules. RT1-A1(o/d) and -A2(o/d) are closely related in sequence to other cloned rat class Ia genes that have been shown to map to the RT1-A region, while RT1-A3 degrees is highly homologous to a...

Genes in two MHC class I regions control recognition of a single rat NK cell allodeterminant.

We have previously presented evidence suggesting that the non-classical class I region of the rat MHC, RT1.C, encodes polymorphic molecules which induce the cytolytic activity of alloreactive NK cells. Those studies used target cells from a panel of MHC congenic rat strains possessing recombined portions of the RT1a, RT1l and RT1u MHC haplotypes. We have now examined in addition a set of rat st...

The rat RT1-A1c MHC molecule is a xenogeneic ligand recognized by the mouse activating Ly-49W and inhibitory Ly-49G receptors.

Mouse Ly-49 receptors are known to recognize xenogeneic ligands from hamster and rat. However, until now, there has been no description of a specific rat xenogeneic ligand for any mouse Ly-49 receptor. In this report, we identify RT1-A1c, a rat classical class I MHC molecule, as a ligand for the Ly-49G(BALB/c) inhibitory receptor and the closely related activating receptor, Ly-49W. Xenogeneic c...

Identification in rat liver and serum of water-soluble class I MHC molecules possibly homologous to the murine Q10 gene product

We have identified large quantities of a water-soluble, non-RT1.A class I MHC molecule in the serum of the DA rat strain, with a similar molecule being found in aqueous extracts of DA liver. The non-RT1.A class I molecules have heavy chains of 41 kD, which is smaller than RT1.A class I molecules isolated from liver membranes (45 kD) but larger than water-soluble RT1.A class I molecules previous...

Differential CD4/CD8 subset-specific expression of highly homologous rat Tcrb-V8 family members suggests a role of CDR2 and/or CDR4 (HV4) in MHC class-specific thymic selection.

Different rat Tcrb haplotypes express either TCR beta variable segment (Tcrb-V) 8.2l or 8.4a. Both V segments bind the mAb R78 but differ by one conservative substitution (L14V) and clusters of two and four substitutions in the complementarity-determining region (CDR) 2 and CDR4 [hypervariable loop 4 (HV4)]. Independently of MHC alleles numbers of R78+ CD4+ cells are lower in Tcrb-V8.2l-express...
